We are walking in honor of Maureen Brownson, who passed away in 2017 after a brave battle with lung cancer:
Maureen faced her lung cancer diagnosis with a strength, sense of faith, and resiliency that was beyond humbling. She never smoked and often found herself having to explain to others how she had lung cancer when she was a never-smoker. This unfair stigma made an already hard fight that much more painful. We are walking for Maureen and to raise lung cancer awareness, especially in nonsmokers and women, and for all of those who continue to fight this disease, their families, and caregivers. Maureen was a loving mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend and we miss her beautiful spirit everyday.
Support the fight to beat lung cancer!
I am fundraising for the VIRTUAL 14th Annual A Breath of Hope Lung Run/Walk Twin Cities because:
- Lung cancer is the deadliest cancer, claiming more lives than breast and colon cancers COMBINED;
- An estimated 145,000 Americans will die of lung cancer this year. 60% are nonsmokers when diagnosed; and
- Lung cancer research remains proportionately underfunded per cancer death.
